Alisa Vainio, 27, has returned after a long race. She won the women’s half marathon at the Paavo Nurmi Marathon event in Turku at 1.10.51.
Time is the third best of Vainio’s career. The competition was the first for Vainio since last fall’s Berlin Marathon.
– I had mycoplasma and it took a long time to recover. I have been healthy for over a month now and since then, every workout has taken up and taken the fitness forward, Vainio says in a news release from the Finnish Sports Association.
Vainio went confident in his first race of the season. Training has felt good lately.
– There’s a big difference to the situation a month ago when it felt like I didn’t get back after workouts and came home crying from them. It is great to get yourself right, Vainio rejoices.
Vainio is inside the marathon world rankings and has a place for the Tokyo World Championships. He has always had the World Championship marathon, although a month ago, participation seemed to be at stake.
-The World Cup has been a motivator for training. I wanted and still want to, says Vainio.
