No loud music, liters of beer and thick hangover, but lego blocks, bicycle workshops and board games. This year, the Introweek of the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) will be given an alternative program for the first time without going out and parties, so that students can do what they feel like.

Next week the introduction weeks will start in the Brabant university cities. These weeks are traditionally packed step evenings, cantuses and short nights. But at the TU/e they are tackling it differently this year with a festive program.

The desire for a quieter alternative during the introduction week came from a number of TU/e students a few years ago. “They indicated that not everyone wants to attend all parties, but at the time there were hardly any possibilities for them,” said a spokesperson.

New Introweek
That is why the university already organized some festive activities during last year’s Introweek. According to the spokesperson, that was very pleased: “Not all first -year students feel like partying, but they do come to the introduction week to get to know other people. With a program like this, those students can still get to know people, without having to go to a party every evening.” According to the spokesperson, international students in particular needed the alternative program last year.

Parallel program
This year, therefore, the extra party -free Introweek, the so -called ‘Tangent Track’, is being used. The program has been compiled in collaboration with the Study and Sports Associations of Eindhoven.

The festive program runs parallel to the regular introeek. Students who like a beer can just go to all parties, but for those who prefer not to dive into the party, there are other activities in the evening. Think of board games, gamingBuild LEGO bridges and a bicycle workshop. Participants of the introduction week can be done all week switch Between the party and non-party program.

Intro-tinder
The large range of activities sometimes makes choosing difficult. That is why students developed an app with which first -year students can compile the tailor -made program. “It is actually a kind of Tinder,” says the spokesperson. “First -year swip Along the activities and that’s how they put together their own intro program. “

Gate closer
But there is also a lot as it was. Just like always, there is a campsite with three hundred sleeping places for all new students at the University Campus. And anyone who wants to turn off the lights one more, can go to the big party on Stadhuisplein on 27 August a little after the introduction week. Incidentally, there is also a festive alternative for that moment.

At the Top Week in Tilburg they also take students into account who want to take it a bit easier. During the Biercantus and the Pub ride, freshmen can also participate in an alternative activity, such as an outdoor cinema at the Willem II stadium. Unlike Eindhoven, only in Tilburg is not a full alternative program.

The introduction weeks in Eindhoven and Tilburg take place from 18 to 22 August.
