Prayer in the cathedral: New FC jersey breaks all records

The 1. FC Köln celebrated the traditional prayer in Cologne Cathedral and presented the new alternative jersey. This only breaks after hours of records.
This combination elects the fans of 1. FC Köln: FC and Cologne Cathedral combines in a jersey of the billy goats. For the 777th anniversary of the Cologne landmark, FC dedicated its alternative jersey of the High Cathedral Church of St. Peter in the 77th year of the club history – the Cologne Cathedral.
On August 15, 1248, the foundation stone was laid for the building. 700 years later, on February 13, 1948, 1st FC Köln was founded. Well, in 2025, both landmarks of the city of Cologne celebrated their joint anniversary – 777 years of Cologne Cathedral, 77 years 1. FC Köln. And in connection with a common jersey.
A black jersey with golden applications and the cathedral immortalized: in just a few hours the fans tore the bailnut out of their hands from the hand. Over 7,000 jerseys sold since publication have been a new record, so far only two more jerseys had sold around 6,000 copies. FC and the cathedral – the two Cologne monuments hit the nerve of the fans.
After more than two years of preliminary and planning, a great success for the club: “We didn’t expect that,” said Managing Director Philipp Liesenfeld. “We are overwhelmed. The fact that demand is so great presents us with a challenge. But we will do it.” Fans can buy as long as the stock lasts – and then order. Albeit with a delivery period of three to four months.
On Friday afternoon, 4,000 FC fans came to the cathedral for traditional prayer, which was now being organized by FC in the eleventh year at the start of the season. The focus was also on the jersey, but actually the 777 -year -old building and its cathedral building association, which is committed to preserving the cathedral. FC, supplier Hummel and the two large sponsors Rewe and DevK donated a total of 77,777 euros to the Cologne cathedral building association.
In addition, the FC managers called the fan community to get involved in the cathedral building association to support the Cologne landmark. In contrast to membership in the goat, for which an adult has to pay 92 euros per year, you are already at the cathedral building association with 20 euros. A circumstance that cathedral and city dean Robert Kleine rounded up with a wink.
However, those present also came to a special pleasure. As a surprise guest, the Bläck Fööss came to the cathedral. The Cologne cult band performed a new song – “Dreimol Sieben” as Ode to the cathedral. In addition, “en our Veedel” and “The twelfth man”, a new song as a declaration of love to the fans.
Traditionally, the prayer came to an end with the FC anthem, played on the cathedral organ and sung from the thousands of FC fans present. Many of them already wore the new FC jersey, which will be used for the first time in the DFB Cup at SSV Jahn Regensburg on Sunday. Then the season for the billy goats starts.
