Taylor Swift heralded her new era this week and her 12th studio album “The Life of a Showgirl” announced. Since then, everything has been about the singer. Especially after she appeared as a special guest in the “New Heights” podcast by Travis and Jason Kelce and spoke about the new work for almost two hours. Here are all known details.
Publication in autumn
The Life of a Showgirl will be released on October 3 at midnight – a date that was chosen due to the proximity to Swift’s lucky number 13. The singer returns to her typical autumn releases. After the spring release of “The Tortured Poets Department” in 2024, she now wants to claim autumn again.
Cover: green with sparkling orange script
The album cover shows swift under water in a bathtub, in the sparkling show girl body from diamonds. Contrary to fan expressions, the cover mint green with orange script is. Photographer Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot-known for Swift’s reputation cover-designed the motif. Swift explained that she wanted an “off-stage moment” as the main motive, since the album acts primarily about what happened away from the stage.
Created during the Eras Tour
Despite 149 shows worldwide, Swift found time to write, produce and record the album – often between tour stops, partly in Sweden. The majority were created in the summer of 2024 during the European stage.
Return of Max Martin and Shellback
Eight years after reputation, the two producers work again with Swift – this time exclusively without further collaborators. According to Swift, “the best ideas we have ever had” were created together.
“Glitter-Gel-Pen” pop
The sound should be energetic, happy and catchy. Travis Kelce described all twelve songs as “Banger” – a clear contrast to the more serious “Tortured Poets Department”.
Sabrina Carpenter as the only feature guest
Carpenter sings in the title song-her first official publication with Swift after appearing as an Eras Tour opener.
Unusual tracklist
Song title such as “Opalite”, “Ruin the Friendship” or “Eldest Daughter” provide speculation. The latter is Track 5 – traditionally one of the most emotional songs at Swift.
Shortest tracklist for years
Only twelve songs, no bonus tracks. Swift wanted a compact, thematically closed album in which no song is interchangeable.
Storytelling remains central
Despite pop production, songwriting should be preserved in the style of folklore-with clear, focused and pictorial texts. A poem in the booklet will complement the content.
Long -cherished goal
Swift emphasized several times that she wanted to make such a focused album in a long time. Martin and Shellback have also had this cooperation in view for years. It remains to be seen whether parts of the legendary “Karma” album are hidden in it.
