A 28-year-old man from Zwartemeer has been sentenced to community service and a conditional prison sentence. At the end of 2022, he was found in his attic in the end of 2022, 184 kilos of fireworks. An anonymous tip raised the police.
The man ran into the lamp in December 2022 after an anonymous tip about the sale of illegal fireworks. The mayor of Emmen, alerted by the police about the find, called the storage life -threatening. In total it involved almost ten thousand pieces of bang fireworks. In addition, the man also had consumer fireworks in the house that can be purchased legally. The Public Prosecution Service decided not to blame him.
At the session two weeks ago the man from Zwartemeer expressed regret. He bought the fireworks for two years before the find after watching some videos on YouTube. After the purchase, he did not know what to do with the fireworks.
Judges mainly look at the dangerous charge of the fireworks. This was a net explosive mass of almost 30 kilos. Saving this professional fireworks is partly so dangerous because, if one piece of fireworks goes off, everything flies into the air.
Because he already committed the fact 2.5 years ago, and because the suspect expressed regret, the judges kept it at a 180 -hour work sentence and a conditional prison sentence of 3 months. He does not notice anything of that conditional punishment if he does not go over again in the next two years.
220 hours of community service and a conditional imprisonment of six months was demanded against the man.
