The differences also appear to be large within the care, the Chamber of Commerce notes. In the practices of dentists and psychologists, for example, more freelancers are now walking around than early November last year. But in home care the number of self -employed persons decreased by almost 8 percent, even by 10 percent in childcare. In the hospitals, the decrease, with less than three percent, was much smaller.
Resistance among self -employed people is growing: ‘Tax and Customs Administration is too rigid, 2026 will be a drama’
According to Joris Knoben, professor of strategy and entrepreneurship in Tilburg, the differences can probably be explained mainly by the concerns about false independence among clients and self -employed people themselves, for example in home care. Or by the decision of companies not to work with freelancers anymore, such as in childcare.
Differences
Knoben also sees a varying image outside of healthcare. “The number of self -employed people in logistics is increasing, while courier services a clear decrease is visible,” he says. The professor therefore warns about too rapid conclusions about self -employed people who transfer to a permanent job or who, because of the stricter controls by the tax authorities, will stop.
Self -employed people borrow more often and more: ‘Target group has changed and a loan offer increased’
According to the self-employed monitor of the Chamber of Commerce, the total number of self-employed people in all sectors of the Dutch economy has increased a little bit in recent months. At the same time, compared to the same month a year earlier, a decrease in the number of starters and an increase in the number of stoppers has been seen for some time. Only in healthcare does the real number of self -employed people are structurally decrease.
