At the beginning of August, the best Wavewindsurfers in the world gathered on the beach of Cabezo, Tenerife. Despite the unusual weather conditions – light wind and medium waves – Degrieck insured themselves with good golf choices, convincing bottom gymnasts and aggressive top turns of a place in the semi -final. There she made it exciting: in the final seconds she scored 6.12 points with her last wave, enough to reach the final.
In a fierce final battle, Degrieck had to make the thumbs up for former world champion Sarah-Quita Offringa from Aruba. The Canary Alexia Kiefer finished second, Degrieck finished third.
