Chester Bennington’s death concerns people around the world in the US edition of the Rolling Stone Friends and bandmates remember the last days of the musician.
In June and July this year, Linkin Park were on European tour. The singer seemed to be in top shape. “We have seen the most lively and present chester that I experienced in my 15 and a half year history with the band”, says Jim Digby, Linkin Park’s tour manager. “He was in the best physical condition of his life.”
Robert Deleo from the Stone Temple Pilots – from 2013 to 2015, Bennington sang instead of Scott Weiland in the band – exchanged news with Bennington just a few days before the singer died. His news are “Loving, positive, looking into the future and full of things about getting older” Deleo recalls. Just one day before he died, Bennington, Matt Sorum (formerly Guns N’roses) wrote an email in which he said that he would like to appear again with their all-star band Kings of Chaos.
The “dark passenger” had returned to his life
Some friends are now worried that they have overlooked signs. Those who indicated that the “Dark passenger “ had returned to his life. After his withdrawal in 2006, Bennington seemed to be Clean. Now friends tell of a three -day relapse of the singer last August. But he also seems to have drunk until October.
Because a month before his death he confessed to his good friend Ryan Shuck, who played the guitar at Dead by Sunrise, the side project of Bennington that he had been sober for six months. He described his fight against alcohol in text messages: “He wrote of a fight that took place after hour. If I look at it today, it is frightening. He told me down to the smallest detail what he did when he wanted to drink again. ‘I have to do it every day every day’.”
Chester Bennington: “I have a hard time with life”
In February, Chester Bennington spoke with “Music Choice” about the song “Heavy”. At that time he said: “I have a hard time with life. Even if it is good, I feel uncomfortable all the time … The first line ‘I don’t like my mind right now’ – that’s me. 24 hours a day. And then I stuck in it. I find life very hard. But it doesn’t have to be that way.”
Chester Bennington died on July 20, 2017 at the age of 41. His burial in the private circle took place nine days later.
