From Superflik to Supergangster: Willy van Mechelen, the 82-year-old Cokebaron with a Rijkswachtbadge

“I am the most congratulations police officer in Belgium,” Willy Van Mechelen once said about himself. And that wasn’t even lied. In the 80s and 90s he was the top tracker of the Rijkswacht. “No big case is solved without Van Mechelen,” it was said. But ‘the uncle’ did not only chase criminals, he himself became one. At the age of 82 he is the oldest drug boss in the country.
