Once a year, between the end of July and early August, the Anti -Corruption Office gives journalists good news: they are already, just out of the oven, the new affidavits of government officials, from the president to the last of their hostesses. Thus it was that we learned, in this 2025, that the richest minister of the libertarian staff is that of foreign relations, Gerardo Wertheinwhich declares a heritage of 92 billion pesos, followed by the head of Justice, Mariano Cúneo Libarona, with 18 billion, and for the economy, Luis “Toto” Caputo, with just under 12 thousand (always millions). We also knew, in parallel, that the Milei brothers accuse a fortune rather less than that of these “champions.” Javier, the president, declares 206 million, and Karina, the general secretary, only 11 million, little more than a senator’s salary. The sister is not – in the papers, at least – among the winners of the model.
However, there is a glow name that is missing in the OA list and it is that of Santiago Caputothe star advisor of Milei who, as he has no charge -is hired -, is excused from presenting his accountability. Okay, nobody forces him. And the gadget of appointing him as an advisor works as a armor so that they do not transcend the numbers of his accounting. A shielding perhaps.
But the serious thing about the fact is that Caputo, the man who does not pay accounts, at the same time is the one who handles several of the most important Government’s boxes, such as the SIDE and its reserved funds, the ark (ex Afip), The Ministry of Health or the millionaire YPF advertising budgetwhere he put his partner Guillermo Garat at the head of the distribution of the official pattern that the government says it does not exist: last year, the state oil company distributed 97 billion pesos to the allied media.
That an advisor who occupies the cusp of power with the president and his sister Karina – the famous iron triangle – is the only one who does not transparent his heritage seems delusional. Even more if we take into account that the same character is under observation by scandals such as Leonardo Scatturice and his Aeroparque Valijero aircraft -The employer has a contract with the Caputist Side- or for the handling around the tax regime of Tierra del Fuego that benefited Mirgor, a technological and auto parts company that has as a shareholder the uncle of the advisor, “Nicky” Caputo, the “brother of the soul” of Mauricio Macri.
At some point of anger, the former president came to send a message to the star advisor with whom he collided in the middle of the tensions with the Milei for the last campaign in CABA. “Tell that he continues to get with me, I will start talking about his businesses,” he transmitted to a well -known yellow and almost violet deputy who, solicitously, took the warning to Caputo.
Among what Macri promised to reveal, they say, was what he had heard about alleged reserved meetings of the advisor with important businessmen in the central offices that in life belonged to the writer of his father, Claudio. A rumor that nobody takes care.
As we said, Caputo is hired from the government. The contract is with the General Secretariat of the Presidency that commands its internal rival, Karina. It is for “provision of autonomous professional services”, with monthly fees of 2.3 million pesos during 2024, the last data available.
Caputo is category B monotributista, the second lowest in the regime. There is no auction.
