It is still quiet on the land in Drouwenermond, but not for long. On Thursday, the Boerenrock Festival will start again. For four days of music, crosses, fair, party and perhaps romance? Yes, because in addition to beer and mopeds, love is also central this year.
This year there is a new crowd puller, the Agrimatching Town Hall. Normally this dating app is classified per province for rural youth, but for four days, Boerenrock itself becomes one large ‘province’.
“This allows visitors to find their love on Boerenrock,” says organizer René Boiten. “Spontaneous love always arise, and loves also break at such a festival, but you can immediately work on it again. First just past our beauty barn, do nails, cut hair or put a tattoo, and then you have the best chance.”
Large trucks have been running in and out in recent days, volunteers lugging fences and cables, and above all the new, extra large, party tent towers.
“When he was still on the floor, I thought: it is not too bad,” laughs Boiten. “But now that he is standing. Yes, this is really a showpiece. And ticket sales are 30 percent for last year, so I expect that we are going to full rammetje.”
Although Boerenrock is known about the line-up, it is all about much more than music. “It’s really only entertainment,” says Boiten. “We have a cross track, fair, and even our own merchandise.”
This year that year means oversized shirts and the iconic farmers rock hat, with all provincial flags this year, and of course to be wearing on two sides.
“The line-up is another one to be proud of,” says Boiten. Paul Elstak and Jannes, among others, will start on Thursday. On Friday the pace will be increased with outsiders and Marco Schuitmakers. On Saturday, the banking siders and piece of Lives are on the program. And on Sunday is the family day, with performances by André Hazes, Tino Martin and Mart Hoogkamer. Kris Kross Amsterdam closes the weekend.
For those who want to stay every day, there is the festival campsite. “The best moment? Thursday morning the camping guests release the site,” says Boiten. “Then you know that the party will start.”
RTV Drenthe is all four days live and reports on the event.
