Maximiliano, how were the beginnings in your profession?
The beginnings of my professional tour were deeply significant. I had the opportunity to travel through various fields that marked my choice and allowed me to confirm that, rather than choosing psychoanalysis, it was psychoanalysis that chose me. I worked on emergency contexts, with cancer patients, with children, pubers and adolescents in situations of extreme vulnerability. In that first stage I noticed that the word, many times, was absent: only diagnoses, medications and protocols were heard that failed to accommodate the suffering of the subjects. It was in that void where psychoanalysis was presented to me as an ethical practice that works with the word and truly houses the one who suffers.
What is your academic training?
My training and my practice are nourished by the work developed in the Fernando Ulloa institution, under the direction of Lic. Miriam Mazover. Thanks to her and the entire team that accompanies her, I had the opportunity to grow and develop in different functions: as a teacher, as an admitter, as a supervisor and, of course, in clinical practice.
What projects do you have ahead?
My professional projection is oriented to the transmission of psychoanalysis, both in its formative and clinic dimension. As a teacher and supervisor, I am interested in opening spaces where psychoanalysis can be lived and designed as a living, non -dogmatic practice, capable of accommodating those who have traveled multiple treatments without having found a space sustained by an ethic of care, listening and tenderness.
What are your differentials in the field?
I am convinced that there is no competition among professionals. Everyone has their style, their singularity, their way of working. I like to think that there is room for everyone, and that this diversity enriches the possibilities of choice of those who seek treatment.
If I had to start again, What would you do differently?
If I started again, I would choose not part of interdisciplinary teams that reduce the subject to a diagnosis or the application of unnecessary test. Instead, instead, to the community spaces that nourish me so much today, where the loop with others and the practical practice gain true meaning.
