The musical journey began in the Holy Magdalenakerk, where harpist Lise Vandersmissen introduced the audience to the Italian triple harp. “It is a baroque harp with three rows of strings,” she explains. “I think it is an interesting instrument because of the unique sound and the fact that it is no longer played that often. It is a challenge to breathe new life into it.”

The Ma Festival, which has been a fixed value in the summer of Bruges for years, is known for its focus on old music and historical instruments. The event attracts around 6,000 visitors every year.
