Tim Verbaanderd became Dutch champion in the 5 kilometers on Saturday afternoon. The Veldhoven athlete was in 14 minutes and 0.14 seconds the fastest during the Dutch Championships held this weekend in Hengelo.

The just 25-year-old Verbaandert was ahead of Mike Foppen for a tight second. That was handsome, because breeding was still in the final of the Olympic 5 kilometers in Paris last year. Nik Lemmink came in 14 minutes in Hengelo and more than 8 seconds as third.
