Düsseldorf wants to move up to the Bundesliga. At the start of the new season, Fortuna had to go in Bielefeld – and experienced an evening to forget.

Rising team Arminia Bielefeld won the first second division top game of the new season on Saturday evening. Against the promotion aspirant Fortuna Düsseldorf the DFB Cup finalist won a 5-1 home win. The Arminia was initially 0: 1 behind, Cedric Itten had put the guests in the lead (35th minute).

But a yellow-red card for Düsseldorf’s Tim Oberdorf initiated the turn. Before the break, Noah-Joel Sarenren Bazee equalized (45th). In the second half, Julian Kania (54th), Joel Felix (75th), Joel Grodowski (78th) and Sam Schreck (90.+7) shot the Arminia for a clear home win.

Before the first floodlight game of the season began, Arminia announced the early and long -term contract extension with stammer goalkeeper Jonas Kersken in the stadium. In the starting line-up, Arminia coach Mitch Kniat relied on three debutants: Tim Handwerker, Marvin Mehlem and Benjamin Boakye. On the other hand, Daniel Thioune sent four new additions to the square. Two of them got the Düsseldorf leadership in co-production.

Shortly after midfielder Christian Rasmussen after a nice individual campaign the ball had only promoted to the rod, the Dane presented the ball for Itten. The newcomer from Bern lost a defender and hit.

Then the trend reversal initiated bitterly for 60 seconds. First Oberdorf was sent from the square to Grodowski after a repeated foul, then Sarenren Bazeee made the prompt compensation.

The team of Daniel Thioune no longer digest the shock from the first half and the outnumbered outnumbered, instead Bielefeld added more goals and scored the top of the table.
