Michael Greis and Laura Dahlmeier were both active as biathletes. Now the three -time Olympic champion mourns the seven -time, deceased world champion.

The 48-year-old told the “Munich evening newspaper”: “It is so tragic, so sad, so shocking that she left us far too early.” Greis emphasized: “If you – like me – have experienced at biathlon, you can say clearly: With everything she did, she was never hasty, she was extremely careful and risk -conscious, she was – with all passion – always methodological and analyzing.”

The fact that the experienced mountaineer and state-certified mountain and ski guide died in despite her care in a rockfall described Greis as the “fate day”. He also told the newspaper: “If you look at the chain of unfortunate circumstances – the stone chill, the bad weather, the rope companion, who could no longer advance to her – it was just the case that her time had expired. Terrible.”

Greis has already described Dahlmeier as a “young woman” as a “special person”. She was “incredibly nice, personable, down -to -earth, authentic” and had represented the biathlon sport in an outstanding way. She was particularly enthusiastic about her unaffected manner. He himself met her again and again.

Greis also said about Dahlmeier: “In her life, she always chose her passion. That was biathlon sport for a long time – and then the mountains. Unfortunately, she now cost this passion.
