The HSV goes into the future with Merlin Polzin. Two weeks before the first competitive game of the new season, the club extended the contract with the promotion coach and its team of coaches.

The Bundesliga club did not provide any information about the contract period. “We are taking this step out of conviction,” said sports director Stefan Kuntz about the long -awaited decision. The contract of the 34-year-old, who led the Hamburgers back to the Bundesliga last season, would have expired in the coming summer.

The contracts by Polzzin’s assistance coaches Loic Favé and Richard Krohn were also extended. They “not do excellent work for the HSV since their takeover as a professional team of trainers,” said director Sport Claus Costa.

“We will continue to give everything for the diamond every day.”

The HSV starts the season with the DFB Cup game at FK Pirmasens (August 16) in two weeks. “Our signal to the coaching team and the environment is clear that we want to give security and backing for the upcoming tasks,” said Kuntz. He expects a “tough competition in the Bundesliga, in which we can inevitably encounter crises. We are ready to tackle this challenge together with Merlin, Loic and Richi.”

Polzin: “Strengthened again”

Polzin had taken over the office of head coach in the past second division season from Tim Walter and finally led the HSV back to the first division after many years of sadness. There, the Hamburgers meet Borussia Mönchengladbach on the first August 24th on August 24th.

“As is well known, the HSV is the club in my hometown. Since I arrived at HSV, I have been able to pride the diamond on my chest with great pride,” said Polzin about his contract extension. “We know first -hand what this club means and are therefore very happy to have been strengthened again in this constellation by those responsible and committees.” Together with his team, he wanted to “establish the HSV with our manuscript again in the Bundesliga”.
