The woman may have been injured in her breastbone, according to a spokesperson. “She was very stuffy.” She was brought to the hospital by rushed ambulance personnel.
Investigation by the police on site has since shown that the motorist crossed the bus lane while her traffic light was red. In addition to traffic lights, there are also sound signals and shark teeth that warn motorists about crossing buses.
A Transdev spokesperson (parent company Connexxion) confirms the accident, but cannot say whether there were passengers in the bus. The bus driver has remained unharmed in any case.
Previous accidents
Earlier this summer there were two accidents on the bus lane on the Van Heuven Goedhartlaan in a week also four injured.
A resident of the Haya van Somerensingel, who looks out at the intersection, sees it regularly (almost) going wrong there. “People who look on their phone on the bike, cars that try to get the orange light with an emergency. Or even people who just ignore the red light because they have not spotted the bus. Then you have little to do with a traffic light.”
