It has been clear since June: there should be another part of the success film “The Social Network” from 2010. According to an industry magazine, Aaron Sorkin not only writes the script this time, but also takes over the direction. Now there is a first name that is traded for the role of Mark Zuckerberg: Jeremy Strong.

Hot candidate

There is still no official offer, but “Succession” actor Jeremy Strong is the top favorite for the embodiment of Mark Zuckerberg in “The Social Network Part II”. Jeremy Allen White, known from the series “The Bear” and Mikey Madison (“Anora”), should also take over in Sorkin’s new film, according to “Deadline”.

No direct sequel

In the center of the new film there is no mere narrative of the previous history. Rather, it should be a critical examination of the social effects of the platform.

The “The Facebook Files” investigative series by Jeff Horwitz, which was published in the “Wall Street Journal” in 2021, serves as the basis for the script. It is based on internal, leaked documents of the now renamed group. There are also deep insights into the structures and problems of the tech giant.

Found in Jesse Eisenberg’s footsteps

If Jeremy Strong is actually cast as Mark Zuckerberg, he would take on the role that Jesse Eisenberg once played. He had embodied the meta CEO in the first part. Andrew Garfield and Justin Timberlake also played central roles in “The Social Network”. It is not yet known whether they will be part of the cast again.

Andrew Garfield, who played in the first part of Zuckerberg’s business partner Eduardo Saverin in 2024, commented in an interview with “Esquire” rather reluctantly to the rumors: “I cannot imagine that I will be part of it because I think that Eduardo simply lives from his billions in Singapore.”
