In the meantime, after Laura Dahlmeier’s accident, a few days have passed. It is still unclear what happens to her body.
As the management of Laura Dahlmeier announced after her death, be it Dahlmeier’s last wish not to be recovered in a risky way in the event of her death, but to stay on the mountain. At the beginning it also looked as if her wish met. But there are now different reports.
The fact is: Sounts of dead in the high mountains are extremely risky, especially because of the weather conditions. After all, the weather in the high mountains can turn from one moment. Dahlmeier crashed on the Laila Peak in Pakistan. If your body is to be removed with a helicopter, perfect weather conditions with good visibility is needed.
And now about the contradictory statements: The sports association Alpine Club of Pakistan announced that Dahlmeier’s body was recovered as soon as the weather conditions allowed this. Faizullah Faraq, the spokesman for the Gilgit-Baltistan region, on the other hand, emphasized: “We were told that it was Laura Dahlmeier’s wish to leave her body back on the mountain after her death.” It will be checked promptly whether this is possible. Faraq did not say exactly what their concerns are about.
One thing is clear: the weather situation tends to worsen. From the beginning of August, the situation around the Laila Peak in northern Pakistan is usually significantly deteriorating. Then snowfall will use and the mountain will sooner or later be under a blanket of snow. If the salvage does not take place in the next few days, it would only be possible again next year in May or June.
