The Paris silver medalists Nils Ehlers and Clemens Wickler have reached the round of 16 of the beach volleyball European Championship in Düsseldorf.

The German duo celebrated his second victory in the course of the tournament with a 2-0 (21:17, 21:17) against the Austrians Christoph Dressler and Philipp Waller. One day after their opening defeat, they had previously won against Yves Haussener and Julian Friedli from Switzerland (2-0).

Benedikt and Jonas Sagstetter as well as Paul Henning and Lui Wüst also loosened the round of 16 tickets on Thursday. The brothers duo won against Remi Basseau/Calvin Aye from France (2-0). “We are just mega happy that we are in the round of 16, that was our goal before,” said Jonas Sagstetter. At Henning/Wüst it was a bit scarcer against the Poland Michal Bryl and Bartosz Losiak (2-1). “Happy, relieved, exhausted – is a horny station wagon, it feels really good,” said Wüst.

At the European Championship, a total of seven DVV pairs are now in the round of 16, and Louisa Lippmann and Linda Bock had moved into the KO round in front of the men. Overall, there are 32 men and women duos in the games that still last until Sunday- including twelve German teams.
