Normally he occurs in the west of Africa or in a terrarium with a enthusiast. But today a Koningspython was discovered on the edge of the Pittelo district in Assen. A snake that you would rather not encounter unexpectedly. It is the second exotic snake in a week that has been discovered in the area of Assen.
“We often find snakes, such as a ring snake or adder, but they just occur here in nature. These two exotics are not dangerous, but I prefer not to come across them,” says Annemay Bock of the Dierenambulance Drenthe. Because in addition to the Python, a Mexican royal hose was discovered in Taarlo last Friday.
The Koningspython is seen as a snake that can be kept well as a pet. The Mexican royal hose is less known as a pet. Both snakes are strangle snakes.
A thing is certain about the snakes, they lived in captivity. How they came into nature is unclear. The Mexican royal hose, after being temporarily taken care of by the people of the animal ambulance, was picked up again by his owner. The owner of the White Koningspython has not yet been found.
“The snakes were found in two very different places. I don’t think it’s the same owner,” says Bock.
