Faustball men: Sensation by Hagen against Pfungstadt

The TSV Hagen has snatched the twelfth championship title into series fistball record champions Pfungstadt. In the new edition of the previous year’s final, the team from the Rhein-Ruhr metropolitan region won 4: 2 (7:11, 11: 9, 11: 9, 14:15) after six sets.

In the first set everything went for the 38-time champion from Pfungstadt. Driven by Captain Patrick Thomas, the team from the vicinity of Darmstadt won the first round 11: 7. In difficult external conditions with wet lawn as well as slippery and heavy ball, Hagen coped better from the second set. Ole Schacht and Philip Hofmann in particular made life difficult for the favorite from Pfungstadt and scored. The game remained tight until 9: 9, then Hagen pulled 11: 9 and the set win.

Hagen followed in the third round. At the 8: 5, the oldest sports club from Hagen, founded in 1860, was three points ahead for the first time. Hagen struggled from point to point, was also able to ward off an 8: 8 compensation and win the set 11: 9. Pfungstadt’s 1.98 meter exceptional player Thomas, on the other hand, had problems. Overall, the TSV struggled in defense.

High voltage at 15:14 in the fourth set

The fourth sentence is gripping and highly exciting. Pfungstadt looked like the safe winner after the 8: 5 and 10: 8, but Hagen equalized to 10:10 and did not let Pfungstadt pull away to two points until 14:14. So the 15th point to win the set had to decide. And exceptional player Patrick Thomas made this with an AS.

In the fifth set, Hagen then had a better start, led 3: 1, 6: 4 and finally 9: 6. Hagen repeatedly scored with quick attacks. In the 10: 6, outsider Hagen had four set balls and used the second to 11: 7. The Hageners took the swing of the set win in the sixth round and passed from 3: 3 to 7: 3. In the 10: 4, the TSV had six match balls. Thomas defended the first. But then Hagen converted to 11: 5 – the cheers in the Dresden Osträhege knew no limits at the TSV.

Faustball women: Ahlhorn wins gripping finals

The new German champion in women’s fistball comes from Lower Saxony again. After four years in series, the title does not go to TV Jahn Schneverdingen this year, but to the Ahlhorner SV, who prevailed against the record champions in the final on Thursday (July 31, 2025) in pouring rain with 9:11, 11: 7, 11: 8, 11: 8.

Outstanding“, it gushed out of Ahlhorn’s Mieke Kienast afterwards:”This is a horny end of a great season. We stood safe everywhere and made the necessary points at the front.

Ahlhorn convinces with variability

Both teams were already advertising for their sport in the first set, which is also becoming increasingly popular in Germany. No team was able to break away, and everything was open in the tactically shaped game until 9: 9. Also because both sides always came with precise information on simple points. If Schneverdingen still had the better nerves in the crunchime of the first set, Ahlhorn was able to develop and compensate for a comfortable lead in the second round, especially thanks to variable attack strokes.

Sentence three was then fiercely fought again. Long, intensive rallies shaped the game. This time Ahlhorn scored the points in the crucial phase and also benefited from two slight errors of Schneverdingen. Ahlhorn was initially able to develop the title in the fourth round. The record champion from near Hamburg came back again, but Ahlhorn kept the pressure up, especially on the network, with the balls that were repeatedly briefly interspersed and used the first match ball.

Bronze to Calw and Vaihingen

Already on Wednesday evening, the fistball women of TSV Calw secured the first medal at the finals with a 3-1 win against TV Segnitz. Segnitz from the district of Kitzingen still won the first set of the competitive game around bronze. But then the Black Forest women turned up from Calw and won 11: 6, 11: 7, 11: 7.

The result in the game for third place among the men was even clearer. The TV Vaihingen/Enz prevailed 4: 0 (11: 8, 11: 8, 11: 8, 11: 8) against the Leichlinger TV.

This is how Faustball & Wowball works

Faustball is a setback game that is played with two teams of five players each. The aim is to hit the ball with the fist or forearm over a network -like band so that the opposing team cannot play it back in the way. The ball is allowed to bounce on the floor per move before it is touched by a player, and a maximum of three players can touch the ball. If the ball touches the outstretched palm or other parts of the body than the arm, this is considered an error.
