With Luis Díaz, FC Bayern has found a new wing striker. Stefan Effenberg praises the transfer – and does not believe in further offensive reinforcement.
Stefan Effenberg praises FC Bayern to commit wing strikers Luis Díaz. “With the purchase of Luis Díaz, a big pressure is taken,” said the T-Online columnist at an event of his sponsor Fenster.com in Berlin on Thursday. He was of the opinion “that this is a very good purchase that has already shown in the Premier League and also in the national team that he is a finished player.”
FC Bayern’s approach makes sense. “He is in the blossom of his career and will also work immediately, I am sure. You have a large hole on the outer lane,” continued Effenberg. The 75 million euros in a transfer are “very well invested” for Effenberg.
However, Effenberg no longer believes that Nick Woltemade is not committed to VfB Stuttgart. “I also said: This is a player you have to get. But if you now spend 70 million for a Luis Díaz, Bayern Munich is also the case that you don’t put 70 or 80 million or more,” says Effenberg. He would also recommend Woltemade to remain with VfB. “That would be the right thing for his development, now,” said the 56-year-old.
For Woltemade, it is important to be the undisputed regular player and to get trust from the club. “And you never have a guarantee of use at FC Bayern Munich. You always take a risk if you go to FC Bayern because you can suddenly find yourself on the bench,” said Effenberg. “50 million plus have already been spent on players who hardly played and then there is this career snap,” he said. His conclusion: “I don’t think you are still making a major attack on Woltemade. This is a player you have to get, but the tendency should be going to do it next season.”
Previously, the “picture” had reported that the Munich team continued to rely on the 23-year-old’s obligation. According to this, Bayern do not want to increase their offer of 55 million euros including the bonus payments, but hope to accommodate VfB.
Woltemade, who is still under contract in Stuttgart until 2028, is currently with his team in the training camp. While the striker is considered willing, the Swabian Bundesliga club had been calmly. “Nick will also be part of the squad with a very, very high probability this season,” said sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth on Monday.
