Bayer Leverkusen’s striker Patrik Schick urgently demands reinforcements for the squad of the Werkelf after the departures of several top performers. “The most important players are gone, of course that hurts. We hope that we will get a few more good players. We are currently not in the position where we can fight for the title,” said the Czech in the “Sky” interview.

With Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong (both Liverpool), Jonathan Tah (FC Bayern) and most recently Granit Xhaka (Sunderland), several top performers left the runner -up. Bayer has had a total of seven fixed departures so far, five other professionals have been awarded. Nine new players were added, 103 million euros in expenses are compared to 206 million euros in income around three weeks before the start of the season.

“For me as a striker, Florian was the most important player. This is a big loss. We cannot replace Florian with the quality he had”, Schick continued with a view to DFB player Wirtz, the most expensive departure of the Leverkusen club history. From the perspective of the 29-year-old, however, the departure of Xhaka weighs the hardest in the team and is the “greatest loss”.

“I believe that granite has gone away for the whole team the most important player,” attested chic. “He was a leader. He was the player with the greatest experience and simply very important for the team.” The remaining actors and the new additions should now “show and come out. He also wants to be confident and with his experience, emphasized Schick.
