What sports director Christian Heidel recently announced is now official: The 1st FSV Mainz 05 has awarded the offensive midfielder Hyun-Seok Hong to FC Nantes for one year. The Bretons confirmed that he owned a purchase option for South Korea’s 26 -year -old international. The rental fee should be “Sky“300,000 euros, the option can be activated at 3.5 million euros. At the beginning of the week, Hong had left the Mainz training camp in order to complete the medical check with the French first division club.

Hong made his debut for South Korea in June 2023 and has been on 15 caps so far. However, his last nomination dates to November 2024. His non -consideration for the national team is also related to the sunken season in Mainz. Last season, Hong was in the field 23 times in the Bundesliga, but only four times from the start and in total only 519 minutes. He achieved a template. When moving from Ghent to Mainz, Hong’s market value was 9 million euros, a year later it fell to EUR 3.5 million. It is still bound in Mainz until 2028.

“It is important for Hyun-SEOK that he gets playing time,” said FSV sports director Niko Bungert on Wednesday evening. “With us it is difficult for him due to the strong competitive situation to get enough minutes. We have agreed to the loan to FC Nantes. The trainer knows him well, and the loan also corresponds to Hyun-Seoks, so we have no stones in his way. We wish him all the best for his time in France and look forward to the fact that he will return to the fragment path even more.”
