Seven teams go to the second season with new coaches. High hopes are mainly due to Miron Muslic (Schalke) and Christian Titz (Hanover). The sports show introduces the new ones.

Christian Titz (Hannover 96)

No, Christian Titz is not really new in the second Bundesliga. Until May, the 54-year-old trained 1st FC Magdeburg and mixed with the club from Saxony-Anhalt for a long time for the ascent. Reason enough for Hannover 96 to hire Titz as a new head coach. Because the traditional club from Lower Saxony finally wants to go back to the upper house, and with Stefan Leitl and Andre Breitenreiter as a coach, this hadn’t worked last year. In the Bundesliga, Titz already knows a little. In 2018 he trained Hamburger SV for two months, but could no longer avoid relegation. With Titz on the sidelines, the 96s before the new season are considered a candidate for promotion.

Markus Fiedler (1. FC Magdeburg)

After Titz’s departure, the 1st FC Magdeburg also had a need for action. The choice fell on Markus Fiedler. The 39-year-old has made a name for himself as a young coach. With the second team of VfB Stuttgart, he rose to the 3rd division in 2024 and also made it to stay there last year. Magdeburg has been relating to young and talented players for years, so Fiedler could be the right man on the line.

Vincent Wagner (SV Elversberg)

It is a turning point for SV Elversberg. Horst Steffen had trained the small club since autumn 2018 and almost led it from the regional league South to the Bundesliga. After the dramatic defeat in the relegation against 1. FC Heidenheim, Steffen switched to SV Werder Bremen. Vincent Wagner is the name of the man who is now supposed to fill out the big footsteps. The 39-year-old only celebrated the regional league championship and promotion to the 3rd division with the U23 of TSG Hoffenheim. And maybe he is the man who can now set new impulses at the SVE.

Ralf Kettemann (SC Paderborn 07)

At SC Paderborn you also lost a successful coach. Lukas Kwasniok joined Bundesliga promoters 1. FC Köln. The East Westphalia are now going into the new season with Ralf Kettemann. Like Fiedler in Magdeburg and Wagner in Elversberg, it is also largely unknown. The 38-year-old recently trained the U19 of the Karlsruher SC. With this, Paderborn also relies on a coach, which is inexperienced in the professional business.

Alexander Ende (SC Prussia Münster)

There are also new faces at the clubs that were deep in the table cellar last season. After the last-minute class maintenance, the SC Preussen Münster is now on Alexander Ende. Sascha Hildmann was released in April, the two “firefighters” Kieran Schulze-Marmeling and Christian Pander had made the relegation. Ende recently trained the third division club SC Verl and also looked after Fortuna Cologne. The 45-year-old knows the club, in the 2006/07 season he played for SC Prussia in the Oberliga.

Heiner Backhaus (Eintracht Braunschweig)

Eintracht Braunschweig only saved itself in May in the relegation against 1. FC Saarbrücken from relegation. They were chaotic days. Coach Daniel Schering was released before the relegation, assistant coach Marc Pfitzner secured the relegation. Now Heiner Backhaus is supposed to calm down the location of the “Löwen”. The 43-year-old recently led Alemannia Aachen to the 3rd league and managed to stay there in the first year. Because he still had a contract in Aachen, Braunschweig had to pay a transfer fee for his desired coach Backhaus.

Miron Muslic (FC Schalke 04)

And FC Schalke 04 also has a new trainer again. When its name was announced, most fans of the “scarce” rubbed their eyes. Because Miron Muslic was almost unknown in Germany. The coach was born in Bosnia-Herzegovina, grew up in Austria and comes from the English second division relegation Plymouth argyle to Gelsenkirchen. He had his greatest success as a coach so far with Cercle Bruges, with the club he reached the Conference League. Muslic should now lead “Königsblau” up again in the table. But that was promised by all of its predecessors at FC Schalke. If you look at the past ten years, Muslic is number 19.
