The Resale Marketplace Depop has appointed Peter Semple as Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Semple will take the position on August 1st after working as an interim CEO of the platform since May 2025.

Even before his time at Depop, he gained considerable experience in technology companies, including Google. There he was part of a small innovation team in the Google Creative Lab. In 2019 he came to Depop as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). In this role he was attributed to the design of the company’s strategic vision. He led the creative team to promote growth and cultural relevance.

Josh Silverman, CEO of the Depop mother group Etsy, mentions the remarkable dynamics of the platform in recent years. “During his time as an interim CEO, Peter Semple not only proved a proven ability to conduct and inspire teams, but also demonstrated his commitment to the mission and the community of Depop. He brings a deep understanding of the position of depot in culture and resale, and we are convinced of his vision for the future.”

In his own explanation, Semple said that he was looking forward to taking over the leadership position permanently and leading the company through the next growth phase. “Together with our great team, I am committed to accelerating our mission of making fashion circularly,” he continued.
