The fact that F. was illegal in the Netherlands was apparent on Monday morning during an introductory session at the court in Alkmaar. The man should not have been in the Netherlands on the basis of Article 67 of the Aliens Act. During the session it was not clear on which ground he was declared undesirable stranger. It was announced that F. already had a criminal record.

The Public Prosecution Service wants the suspect to be investigated in the Pieter Baan Center (PBC), but the defense opposes this. According to lawyer Patrick van der Meij, that makes no sense. According to him, earlier attempts to cooperate ended nothing. An observation would also lead to unnecessary delay, while his client will then get stuck for months on the basis of a – in his eyes – shaky suspicion.

During the hearing, the lawyer expressed doubts about the statements of the victim. He asked the court for the lifting of the pre -trial detention, partly because, according to him, there is hardly any proof of support in the file. According to the Public Prosecution Service, the statements of the victim are supported by visual material on which the criminal offenses could be seen.

The case will be continued in October with another introductory session.
