He had actually ended his career after the past season. But now Pierre-Michel Lasogga was on the pitch for Schalke again-for special reasons.
Hardly anyone had expected this return: Pierre-Michel Lasogga was surprisingly on the pitch for the regional league start of the U23 of FC Schalke 04.
The 33-year-old actually ended his active career in summer and is now used as an assistant coach at the Schalke young players. But a short-term failure caused a plan change: Because of the injury to striker Bojan Potnar, Lasogga “unscheduled” moved into the matchday squad, as the club informed the club’s X account.
First, Lasogga observed the game in his usual role on the sidelines. In the 80th minute he came into the game at 1: 2 for Edion Gashi. Nothing changed about the result – Schalke II had to give up SC Wiedenbrück.
Jakob Sachse scored the only goal for the royal blue in the 53rd minute. Benjamin Friesen (35th) and Nikola Aracic (78th) previously met for the guests. In the final phase, Wiedenbrück’s Timo Kondiella saw the yellow-red card (84th).
Lasogga switched to the second team of Schalke in 2023. Already on the last matchday last season he was used again in the 2nd Bundesliga for the professionals. Stations in his career were previously Hertha BSC, Leeds United and several years in Qatar.
