CG – CLUB of GENTS: BERLIN CALLING
On a winter night, a queue of ravers, artists and international It crowd stands on the edge of the S-Bahn line with their legs in their stomachs. The place is bare, cold and uncomfortable. The notorious East Wind from Berlin whistles through every layer of clothing. Nothing on this wasteland seems to indicate that the hottest techno rave in town will take place here on this evening. The word-of-mouth propaganda works smoothly among the party-mad as always. The door of the abandoned industrial hall is all the harder for it. Glances meet, the look is checked and the bouncer grants entry. On the threshold to the dance floor, the torrent of stale hot air sticks to your skin comes over you. This is how the vortex of Berlin’s nightlife draws visitors inside.
Berlin’s reputation as a party metropolis has long been internationally known and the multi-layered club culture is legendary. Every weekend, thousands of party people roam the city’s clubs and dance to techno sounds or pog to guitar riffs. The music scene in Berlin cannot be tied to a certain direction. Every taste is served. Every subculture finds its home here. The Berlin mix is young and keen to experiment. The casual approach to fashion has also made the capital’s street style famous. Styles are mixed up and pushed beyond boundaries.
MIX AND MATCH – FROM LEO PRINT TO BOLD COLORS
It is precisely this permeability of styles that is expressed in the autumn-winter collection 2022 by CG – CLUB of GENTS. Short coats in an oversize look are combined with skinny jeans. The double-breasted pea coat (CG Marek) with a large collar shimmers in six color variants with the Berlin nightlife. With the selection of aubergine, brown-green, gray and blue tones as well as a rich curry, there is something for every type of man. Everything can be combined with each other, whether monochromatic or wildly mixed.
Typical for Berlin: Anything you like is allowed. An intrepid mix of patterns, designs and colors defines the street scene and a little bad taste makes the look suitable for Berlin. In order to adapt to the big city, a recurring “Leo print” runs through the collection. It appears both as a jacquard pattern for knitwear and as an all-over print for the shirts. A special highlight is the matching jacket in jersey jacquard.
A LAYER IS A LAYER IS A LAYER
Layering is still in fashion this winter. A well-composed layered look not only looks rich, it also goes with the day’s run. After work, it’s time for dinner in a total look, for a sundowner in the bar the jacket (CG Carter) is already taken off and in the club it is best to dance in shirt style (CG Conrow). On the way home at dawn, you throw the bomber (CG Anders) on top.
The smoky haze of the Berlin clubs is reflected in the subdued color palette: rust red, forest green, camel, stone gray and navy characterize many different knit styles made of merino wool. Classics such as beanies and a turtle neck can be found as well as the simple flat-front trousers (CG Cameron / Clow) or the new pleat (CG Cloud). On top of that, the sweater is celebrating its comeback: Cropped, with dropped shoulders, deep V-neck and in a hairy alpaca blend, it attracts attention.
DANCE LIKE NOBODY’S WATCHING
The sound is decided on the dance floor and the outfit determines the staging. The shirts’ AllOver prints are an in-house creation: matching the theme of music and the Berlin club scene, the CG Harlow W shirt surprises with a vinyl print. Those who like abdanced like nobody’s watching can wrap themselves in a short jacket with zip and hood (CG Marley). The going-out look is casual and cool in a long coat with epaulettes (CG Meadow). Further outerwear highlights of the collection are a slim-cut stand-up collar coat (CG Max-J) with a neoprene look and the short CG James-J jacket made of the same material with a zip and hood, plus a fancy checked contrasting fabric.
ACCENTS AND ACCESSORIES
Cozyness exudes a jersey set consisting of a zip hoodie and sweatpants in piqué fabric made from a cotton blend with RPET (recycled plastic bottles from Waste2Wear). A ringed longsleeve with great garment-dyed effects changes in organic cotton. In collaboration with the shoe brand Gordon & Bros, two sneakers have been created that guarantee long party nights. In addition, there is a Budapest shoe and an English-style boot with a wide bar and a coarse Commander sole with a high profile.
