Lawyers from the Ministry of Justice traveled to Tallahassee on Thursday to meet the convicted sex offender and former partner of Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell. The meeting takes place in the middle of a resonant public interest in the Epstein case and in view of the protest from the Maga-Baseafter the Trump government refuses to publish further government material that could link powerful people to the notorious sex offender.

Maxwell was partner of Epstein for years. And an active accomplice in his human trafficking activities. In 2021 she was sentenced to illegal sexual activity for human trade, conspiracy and transport of a minor and sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Maxwell has potentially extensive knowledge of which young women and girls known from Epstein’s well -known young women and girls have misused with him. So far, she has kept herself over her knowledge. But almost five years after her detention, she now seems careful to work with the Trump government. That strives to dispel the suspicion of Trump’s connection to Epstein.

Who is Ghislaine Maxwell?

Before her connection to Epstein attracted international attention, Maxwell was a British Society lady and daughter of Ian Robert Maxwell. A former MP of the British Parliament.

Maxwell scored Epstein at the end of the 1980s or early 1990s when the wealthy financer was an integral part of New York High Society. Shortly afterwards they started a relationship. And remained closely linked to his death in custody over two decades later.

While Epstein’s tendency to young women and underage girls was notorious, Maxwell was considered his “main friend” for many. In fact, she acted as his household manager. Organized his staff. And coordinated the visits of young “massage therapists” in his house in Manhattan.

What was she charged for?

Maxwell was arrested by the FBI in February 2020. She was accused of “having promoted Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse of minor girls through help, support and participation. Among other things, by helping Epstein to recruit victims. To manipulate. And finally abusing them. Knowing that they were under 18.”

The accusations against Maxwell supported almost a decade of allegations that she had recruited, manipulated and abused young women on Epstein’s behest. Several victims, who mostly remained anonymous, said that after recruitment by Maxwell, they were forced to act sexual acts with epstein.

Maxwell was ultimately guilty in five points: human trafficking with minors, transporting a minor with the intention of criminal sexual activity and three conspiracy offenses. In an indictment point – inciting a minor to travel with the aim of sexual acts – she was acquitted. She received a prison sentence of 20 years and is said to face a second process for mine in a civil lawsuit from 2015.

What relationship does she have to Trump and what did he say about her?

Maxwell and the President already knew each other before Epstein even came into the picture. The rich society lady and the darling of the New York boulevard press often met. Trump is said to have even been friends with Maxwell’s father, who became a prominent media mogul after his parliamentary period. Trump often ran with Epstein and Maxwell, of which numerous photos and videos from the 1990s testify. According to Wall Street Journal, Trump wrote a suggestive note for a birthday album in the early 2000s that put Maxwell for Epstein.

2020, after Maxwell’s arrest, said Trump reporters in a press conference: “I have often met her over the years, especially since I lived in Palm Beach, and I guess you too. But I wish her all the best, whatever that means.”

“To be honest, I wish her all the best,” he added.

Journalist Jonathan Swan confronted Trump in a single interview for Axios with this statement: “Mr. President, Ghislaine Maxwell, was arrested for children’s trade. Why do you wish someone all the best?” Trump then emphasized that her boyfriend had died in prison – possibly murdered – and that he “won’t wish anything bad”. Swan reminded him again that Maxwell was a suspected child’s dealer.

During Maxwell’s process, numerous evidence of their connection to Epstein and some of the most powerful and prominent personalities in the world appeared. Flight protocols showed that Trump traveled seven times with Epstein’s private plane – called “Lolita Express” – seven times between 1993 and 1997. His name and telephone number were also included in an address book.

Why does the Ministry of Justice want to speak to her?

The Trump government announced at the beginning of the month to put the Epstein case to the files. FBI and DOJ said there were no stressful evidence of further investigations, and claimed that Epstein had committed suicide in prison. This declaration triggered an uprising among Maga-Influencers, which had promised transparency and further charges from the government.

Trump then explained that the Epstein files were a “dizziness” that Democrats like Barack Obama “invented”. His government and some Republicans in the congress blocked attempts to make the files public. According to Wall Street Journal, Attorney General Pam Bondi Trump already warned in May that his name appeared several times in the files.

Hearing by the FBI

On Tuesday, the Doj announced that Maxwell contacted it. “At the instructions of Attorney General Bondi, I contacted Maxwell’s lawyers to find out whether she would be willing to speak to federal prosecutors,” wrote the Deputy Minister of Justice Todd Blanche. “If Ghislaine Maxwell has information about people who have committed crimes on victims, FBI and Doj will listen to them.”

The next day, the Republican -run supervisory committee of the House of Representatives issued a summons for Maxwell. Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) Explained that they wanted to make the “examination of possible legal solutions to improve the nationwide combating of human trafficking and to reform non-follow-up agreements and/or comparison agreements in sexual offenses”.

The survey is scheduled for August 11 in the prison in Tallahassee, in which Maxwell is detained.

The Trump government and its allies in the congress seem to hope that Maxwell Trump relieves-which could calm the angry followers. But like even Mike Johnson (R-La.), Spokesman for the House of Representatives, emphasized on Wednesday there is a problem.

“The obvious concern, but the big one, the Chairman Comer, I and everyone else, is: can you believe her? Is she a credible witness?” He said reporters. “This is someone who has been convicted of terrible, unspeakable, conspiratorial acts and crimes against innocent young people.

What does Maxwell get away from it?

Maxwell is a convicted criminal who is probably trying to convert her cooperation with the Ministry of Justice in a mitigation or even a pardon.

This idea is already well received in right circles.

“Maybe she wants immunity, maybe protection, I don’t know,” said Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk in his podcast on Tuesday. “But it is definitely something that is commendable and deserves our support.”

On Wednesday evening, Newsmax moderator Greg Kelly said Maxwell “deserves to be outside. And maybe she should never have been in there.”

“I really have the feeling that she – she could be a victim. Maybe she was. There was a quick shot at the time. It was all very chaotic,” added Kelly.

But there was no quick shot. Maxwell was charged both civil and criminal and convicted by a jury of her peers. One should hope that every kind of deal for her cooperation also takes into account why she is sitting behind bars at all – but Trump has never had big scruples to pardon even the worst criminals.
