Anna Monta Olek won gold at the World University Games in Judo. For the beach volleyball players, it was over in the quarter -finals.

The 22-year-old Olek prevailed in the judo competition up to 78kg in the final against the World Cup seventh Beatriz Freitas from Brazil. The Vice World Champion from the SRH Fernhochschule achieved a handle after which the encounter was ended prematurely. Already in the second round, Olek switched off the defending champion Mizuki Sugimura from Japan. Samira Bock had already secured the silver medal on Thursday.

Lea Sohpie Art and Melanie Paul in action at the FISU World University Games

Paul (23) and art (24) lost in two sets (20:22, 16:21). The first round dominated the Erfurter Paul and the Cologne -based art at the beginning. In the meantime, the two gained a lead of six points (14: 8). However, the Dutch came back, equalized to 18:18 and got the first set with a narrow 22:20.

In the second set, Paul/art ran a 0: 5 deficit afterwards, came back to 14:15 and then had to let them tear off again.

Huster/Just are in the semi -finals

The German men’s duo around Philipp Huster (23) and Maximilian Just (22), on the other hand, made the jump into the semi-finals and fights for a medal. The Germans won two clear sentences against the Lithuanian duo Cumakas/Palubinskas (21:16, 21:17).

German badminton duos fail in the quarter-finals

The two German duos in badminton each lost their quarter -finals. Matthias Kicklitz also lost his individual. Malik Bourakkadi (Saarbrücken) and Leona Michalski (Erfurt) lost in two sets in the mixed competition against Lin/Jheng from Chinese Taipei.

Jonathan Dresp (Essen) and Thuc Phuong Nguyen (Saarbrücken) also lost 0: 2 against Liao/Li from China in the mixed quarter-finals. The Erfurt Kicklitz lost 1-2 against the Chinese Xin Yu Zhou.
