Where is Hülkenberg going?
Nico Hülkenberg caused a real sensation at the race in Silverstone: he was on the podium for the first time in his Formula 1 career. A performance that hardly anyone expected from Sauber at the beginning of the year. But thanks to effective updates, the team has taken a clear step forward and the overall package now works much better. In Spa, Hülkenberg ended the training in 14th place.

Piatri wins only training
The best time in the only training session of the weekend secured Oscar Piatri from the McLaren pilot dominated the competition and drove a lap time of 1: 42.022 minutes to the end of the session. He landed a whopping four tenths of a second in front of Max Verstappen in second place. Lando Norris, who had a mistake in his first attempt, was able to improve in third place in the second attempt. Behind it was George Russell, who was traveling on medium, fourth.

The mode
As usual, the mode in sprint qualifying is slightly changed for regular qualifying. Q1 only lasts twelve minutes, Q2 after ten minutes before only eight minutes are available in the Q3. Unlike in normal qualifying, the tire mixtures that need to be used are prescribed. The medium must be driven in Q1 and Q2. Q3 goes on the soft on the soft.
