MIlano, 23 Jul. (askanews) – The Heavy Metal world is mourning for the death of Ozzy Osbourne. From Birmingham to Hollywood, in front of his star on the Walk of Fame, the pilgrimage of the fans of the voice of the Black Sabbath began, once the news of his disappearance has learned.

John Michael Osbourne, universally known as Ozzy, it was much more than a simple musician: A force of nature, an icon that has shaped the face of Heavy Metal and an indomitable survivor. Born on December 3, 1948 in Aston, Birmingham, England, his life was a tumultuous odyssey of excesses, triumphs and incredible artistic rebirths. Ozzy’s childhood was marked by poverty and a difficult school path, which saw him abandon his studies at only 15 years old.

Music, however, was an irresistible call. After several attempts with small local bands, the meeting with Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward gave birth to what would become one of the most influential bands in history: The Black Sabbath.

But the 70s were also a period of unbridled excesses. The abuse of alcohol and drugs became an integral part of Ozzy’s life, leading to tensions within the band and, finally, to his expansion by Black Sabbath in 1979. Many would have predicted the end of his career. Instead, it was the beginning of a new extraordinary chapter with songs such as “Crazy Train” and “Mr. Crowley” and uncontainable live.

Despite the continuous battles with health, including of Recent Parkinson’s disease and the results of a quad accident, Ozzy Osbourne has always shown incredible resilience. On July 5, 2025 his last concert, ‘Back to the Beginning’, an event already passed to the annals of rock. With his Birmingham to welcome the farewell live of the Black Sabbath gathered, for the last time, where everything had started.
