Mountain of litter should make Lichterveld residents think about illegal dumping
A total of 110 bags of waste were collected during last weekend’s annual litter campaign. In just two hours, some 140 volunteers gathered this heap together. A nice turnout, but the result is less. And the City wants to do something about that.
“We found the mountain of waste in barely two hours. From tires to toilets… people throw it all into the canals,” says Alderman for the Environment, Steven Bogaert. “It is sad, but we hope it sends a clear message to the residents. This way we keep our municipality clean and beautiful.”
