The Tour de France has the second day of rest. On Tuesday, the drivers will continue for Florian Lipowitz. He has now commented on doping.

During the second day of rest of the Tour de France in Narbonne, many drivers served to regenerate, Florian Lipowitz spoke about a sensitive topic in cycling. The tour debut and overall third was unimpressed by the ongoing doping debate.

“I don’t really deal with it. In the end everyone has to look at themselves,” said Lipowitz on Monday. For him, it is clear: “I do everything in accordance with the rules and also want to be able to go to bed with calm. In the end, every driver has to be at peace with him. I am.”

The background to the current discussion includes the ARD documentary “Secret Doping: in the slipstream”. Based on journalistic research, it once again expressed the suspicion that even the top of the world continues to manipulate. Even striking performance jumps ensure skepticism.

Lipowitz himself did not see the program. However, he emphasized that in his view, the sport is now strictly controlled. Lipowitz explained: “I already had five or six controls during the tour, I always have to say my place of residence. From me you could also give me a GPS tracker, that would be the best for me.”

The 24-year-old sees the fact that his team “Red Bora-Bora Hansgrohe” works in responsible positions with his own doping past. When asked about sports director Rolf Aldag, said Lipowitz: “I don’t think you have to tidy up the topic anymore, the time is over, everyone has given their confession.”

He added: “At that time many unfortunately chose the wrong way, so you shouldn’t look at it today. The past should no longer play such a big role.”
