The American actor and artist Malcolm-Jamal Warner, best known as Theo HartTable from The Cosby Showdied at the age of 54. International media report this on Monday. He drowned off the coast of Costa Rica on Sunday afternoon.
Warner was dragged by a strong current around 2.30 pm. Bystanders tried to save him, but that didn’t help. He was declared dead by the Red Cross on the spot, according to the Costa Rican police opposite ABC News.
Warners Living in the Show Business started at the age of ninth, with roles in series such as Fame. His big breakthrough came when he was cast as a teenager as Theo, the son of the characters of Bill Cosby and Phylicia Rashad, in the beloved Sitcom The Cosby Show From the 80s.
Disappointment
Years later, when more than fifty women reported sexual cross -border behavior against ‘father’ Bill Cosby, Warner openly spoke about his disappointment. He particularly regretted the loss of the social image that the series offered. The Cosby Show Gold for years as a model of positive representation of black families on television.
After the series, Warner continued to build on a successful and versatile career. In addition to his work as an actor, he was active as a musician. In 2015 he won a Grammy Award for ‘Best Traditional R&B Performance’ with the song Jesus Children.
Warner also remained visible on television. He spoke to the voice for more than forty episodes of The Magic School Busplayed nearly a hundred episodes in the hospital drama The Residentand had a leading role in the comedy series Malcolm & Eddie (1996–2000), in which he could be seen alongside comedian Eddie Griffin.
In 2024 he launched the podcast together with Candace Kelley and Weusi Baraka Not All Hoodin which the diversity of experiences and identities within the black community in the United States is central.
