Anderson has been running at the top forever and can therefore compare different periods. In the recent past, the sympathetic shot was full of praise for, for example, a Luke Littler, but apparently he misses somewhat compared to his glory period with two world titles and profit of the World Matchplay, among others.

“The young players are very bait, really bug,” laughed Anderson, who meets Stephen Bunting in the second round. “You try to talk to them, but they are too busy with their phone. They are always there with those damn earplugs in. They don’t talk.”
“It has become a totally different life. I was recently talking to Ian White about the past. Adrian Lewis, Phil Taylor, Kevin Painter, Ee were all backstage and laughed at us. Nowadays I would rather sit on my own. Nobody talks with each other. There is no fun anymore, Andon said.
“You have to be able to laugh, whatever you do in life. In construction, in the office, everywhere. But nowadays there is still little left of it. The young people are here to do their work. They know they can earn a lot of money, buy their first home, then their second. But they also have to realize that this is a job and not more.”

Anderson also gave a tip to his colleagues. “Children are now also coming to watch the darts and that is good for the sport,” said The Flying Scotsman. “If you don’t have five minutes to greet a child or give a signature, then you shouldn’t do this work. Maybe they are only there once. Then give them something with it. You don’t die of that.”
