Great shock on Schutstraat in Hoogeveen, where a fire broke out last night in a shed next to a house. Cause: a fatbike that caught fire. One resident was injured and had to go to the hospital urgently. Another resident was taken off the roof by the fire brigade.
The fire started around midnight at the electric bicycle, which stood in the shed next to the house. Presumably the battery spontaneously caught fire. The resident who was injured tried to drag the bike out, but that went wrong.
Thanks to rapid intervention from the fire brigade, the damage was limited to the shed, although the house did suffer smoke damage. The Fatbike itself is completely burned out.
In total, four people had to leave the house. The man on the roof was saved by the fire brigade with the help of a ladder and remained unharmed. The police were present to support the fire brigade. The battery of the Fatbike is being investigated to find out what exactly went wrong.
