GROK is integrated into Teslas
Tesla started integration of AI assistant GROK on July 12, 2025, as Teslarati reports. Since then, the software developed by Musk’s AI company Xai has been installed in all new vehicles. Many older models (Model S, 3, X, Y and Cybertruck) can also use GROK via software update-provided you have an AMD infotainment chip, software version 2025.26 or higher as well as an active WLAN or premium connection. The assistant enables language -based conversations with various personality styles, such as factual or humorous. Control of vehicle functions such as navigation or climate is currently not possible. The function is in the beta phase and does not require an XAI account.
According to Tesla, talks with GROK remain anonymous and are processed separately by the user account and vehicle – except for optional registration at XAI, for example for synchronization. GROK is therefore an independent AI service within the Tesla ecosystem. The close link between Tesla and Xai marks another step in Elon Musk’s strategy to interlink different company technologies.

Further investments in Xai
