“No, I will kick up all day. I would like to keep moving a bit of course,” Van Huizen jokes. The extra help comes in handy for fellow cyclist Jantje Uniken. “I’m not that mobile anymore, now I’m getting somewhere again. That’s nice.”
Today it is quite a bit of kicking, because there is a round of forty kilometers on the menu. “Yes yes, but we can still do that,” says Wesseling. “I just wouldn’t know where we are going, I am surprised,” Giebelt van Huizen.
In addition to cycling, it is also a social outing for the elderly and they enjoy it to the fullest. “I know just about everyone in this group,” explains Anneke Horsting. “Nice chat and eat together during the breaks. Very nice.”
Van Huizen can fully agree with that. Wesseling also nods in agreement. “It’s a very nice day.”
The group is now on the road for about fifty minutes. The first stamping point is in Schoonebeek at the Aole Gemientehoes. And what remains when the first pausa is reached? Right: a deserved break with a cup of coffee.
