It was a female porpoise calf. The animal got into trouble close to the beach and could no longer swim independently into the sea.
The fire brigade, the North Seal Team and employees of Sea Life arrived, but could not perform a miracle. Keeping such an animal alive is therefore not easy.
The body of the porpoise is collected today by the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences for further research.
