The start of the Dutchman was impressive. He picked up the first three game Love. Thirteen points in a row and therefore immediately 3-0. Only at 3-0 and 15-0 for De Jong was there a first point for Darderi. The audience present clapped extra hard for it.
It did ensure that the Italian flies back in the first set. For example, he suddenly got 3-1 for De Jong Breekpunt. The second was hit and there was the rebreak. A game later there was 3-3 on the scoreboard. De Jong lost it: Darderi gave himself another game later a chance for another break and he was hit: 4-3 for the Italian suddenly.
Missed opportunity for De Jong
Darderi had plenty of this to attract the set at 5-4: 6-4. A missed opportunity after a great start for the Dutchman. In the second set it continued to go for service for a long time. But at 4-3 for De Jong there was suddenly a breaking point and it was used. Suddenly the Dutchman served for the win in the second set. On Love took the game and the set: 6-3. And so it became a decisive third set in his first final.
The first breaking point for Dardari was 2-1 for the Italian. A good return was enough for him to get 3-1 in the third set. Darderi was the stableest of the two in the decisive third set. The number 55 in the world ranking managed to break the Dutch number 106 twice and held up on his own service.
It meant the third ATP title for Darderi. In March of this year he defeated Tallon Griekspoor in the final of Marrakesh.
