Germany is in the semi -finals of the European Championship. There, the DFB selection meets Spain, but has to do without a star player against the favorite.
Germany’s national team of women once again made it: with an impressive team performance, the DFB selection in the quarter-finals of the EM France ran down and finally prevailed in the penalty shootout.
In the semifinals, Spain is now waiting for the German team. Particularly bitter: national coach Christian Wück has to do without Sjoeke Nüsken. The vice captain will be missing due to a yellow lock. In the 75th minute, Nüsken was late against Sakina Karchaoui and was warned by the referee. Because the 24-year-old had already seen the yellow card in 1: 4 against Sweden, she is now blocked. Of course, she would be there again in a possible finale.
She is not the only player that national coach Wück has to do without Spain. Kathrin Hendrich will also not be available to the DFB women for at least one game. The experienced central defender saw the red card early against France after pulling the opposing captain Griedge Mbock on her hair in the penalty area. The French women converted the subsequent free kick. Despite the more than 105 minutes of overnight number, “Les Bleues” could not win the game.
There is still good news for the German team in terms of staff: Carlotta Wamser will return to her Red Pan. The right -back, who had moved to the starting eleven after the injury of captain Giulia Gwinn, was only missing for a game after her dismissal against Sweden. So Wamser can be there again against Spain. And: After the quarter -finals, all yellow cards are deleted, so that another yellow lock for the final would not be possible.
