With a striking cargo bike from Energiehulp Dordrecht, insulation advisor Chelan Leser cycles through the streets of the city. Together with her team, she is part of a neighborhood -oriented insulation approach. “We help people in an understandable and accessible way to make their home more energy efficient.”

“We notice that many people want to make their home more sustainable, but don’t know where to start,” says Chelan. “We take them step by step, so that together we can come up with an approach that matches what they want or need.”
Neighborhood -oriented approach

Chelan: “Then we move to another neighborhood. Residents receive a letter where we can be found and about the subsidy schemes that they may be eligible for.”

The most recent subsidy scheme that Chelan and her colleagues work with is isolates Dordt, intended for people with their own home in certain neighborhoods. Chelan: “The subsidy can run from two to fifteen thousand euros, depending on the neighborhood and the insulation need. If people are not eligible for it, we will of course inform about other available money pots that are available.”

House scan
You can always request a consultation, but you can also do a house scan yourself. “An important part of the sustainability process is the house scan,” says Chelan. “In addition, we come to residents to walk through the entire house: from the roof to the crawl space. We look at the condition of the glass, the frames, the facades and even the wooden beams. We also look at the energy performance of the home and typical neighborhood problems, such as outdated facades, subsidence or poor insulation.”
“We go through the questionnaire together. Then we discuss what is feasible, both technically and financially. This is a tailor -made advice.” Those who continue in the process receive help with the grant application and a list of certified contractors. That saves research again! “These companies have been selected in advance and meet the sustainability requirements of the municipality.”
Recognizable in the city
With their cargo bikes, clear explanation and personal approach, Chelan and her colleagues help more and more people from Dordrecht on their way to an more energy -efficient house. “We are a very involved team,” says Chelan. “We like to do that little bit extra for residents. And the best thing is: because of our striking clothing and cargo bikes we are often recognized and addressed in the city. The reactions are incredibly positive.”
