Tiny and Anton Feld have been living in the Zeeheldenbuurt in Hoogeveen for decades, but soon no longer. Their social rental home, like other houses in the neighborhood, goes against the plain. There are new houses in its place, but the couple does not return itself.

And that makes them sad, because together they lived in the Piet Heinstraat for 38 years. “The neighborhood is so close,” Tiny sobrs carefully. “Maybe we will no longer see each other or we lose sight of each other, that does something to me.”

From 2027, housing association Actium will demolish the 148 outdated social rental homes in the Zeeheldenbuurt. There are 200 houses in return. The Feld couple does not want to wait and therefore decides to move to an apartment.

“It’s the right choice,” says Anton. “We are already old and such a big move is one thing for us.” Tiny is sitting next to him on the couch, who is sad about it, but can accept it. “Families can build a future in the new houses, we have already done that.”

Tiny and Anton look back with a smile and a tear on their beloved neighborhood in Hoogeveen (text continues under the video):
