The mystery series “Stranger Things” is approaching its degree. With the official trailer for the fifth season, Netflix gives a comprehensive view of the upcoming series finale. The last eight episodes appear staggered in three parts. Volume 1 starts on November 27, 2025, Volume 2 follows on December 26, the series finale will be released on January 1, 2026. Final season: Hawkins in a state of emergency
The plot of the fifth season starts in autumn 1987, around a year and a half after the events of the fourth season. The city of Hawkins is heavily drawn by the cracks that open at the end of season 4. Netflix describes the starting point as follows: “Our heroes pursue a common goal: find Vecna and defeat it once and for all. But Vecna has disappeared, his plans are a mystery.” The military has put Hawkins under quarantine, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) is on the run again. The threat from the upside down escalated, several portals are open, demogorgons appear in the real world, and the situation seems more hopeless than ever.
New figures, familiar faces
In the final chapter, central characters such as Joyce (Winona Ryder), Hopper (David Harbor), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) and Will (Noah Schnapp) return. Linda Hamilton (“Terminator”) as Dr. Kay, a mysterious doctor with her own Swat team. Jake Connelly (“Joe Pickett”) and Nell Fisher (“Evil Dead Rise”) also come to the line -up.

The trailer for the fifth season published on July 18 underlines the dark tone of the final. Accompanied by a dramatic cover of the song “Child in Time” by Deep Purple, the clip scenes in which the group of friends is once again confronted with the supernatural. In the last seconds of the trailer, Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) returns. Lucas shows a scene how he brings the unconscious Max (Sadie Sink) to safety before approaching creatures – an indication that her fate is still open.
What happened so far
Since her debut in 2016, “Stranger Things” has been telling the story of a group of young people in fictional Hawkins, Indiana. The series began with the disappearance of Will Byers and the discovery of the so -called upside down, a dark parallel world. The supernatural events developed in later seasons. Monsters like the Mind Flayer and Vecna are increasingly threatening the real world.
The situation escalated in season four, Vecna turned out to be a central threat, several portals between the worlds opened, and Max fell into a coma after an attack. The season ended with the realization that Hawkins and the upside down are inextricably linked, the final confrontation is imminent.
