Livinguard Technologies AG, based in Switzerland, has launched a new technology to minimize microplastics.

According to the company, the newly developed, patented textile finishing called “Livinguard Better Fresh” reduces the demolition and detachment of microfiber through up to 80 percent during the entire useful life of textiles. At the same time, it effectively prevents odor formation and accumulation in textiles.

The technology is based on the fact that the material surfaces are provided with a positive surface load. This triggers a powerful and durable mechanism for odor neutralization. In addition, polymers of different lengths wrap around the fibers and thus reduce the release of microfiber fragments in household washing. At the same time, the polymers increase the durability of the textile.

Livinguard promises that the equipment can withstand at least 50 household washing water. “But we have also washed 100 times, and the two functions were unchanged,” says Frank Skalicky, Head of Sales Germany.

The water -based solution is applied in the process immediately after coloring – either on the fabrics or the finished piece of clothing – without the need for large changes in existing production processes. The technology is suitable for almost all fibers and tissue, from mixed fibers to pure synthetic, vegetable or animal fibers. “Equipment on polyester works particularly well, where it is often difficult for competition technologies,” explains Skalicky.

The official launch takes place from July 21 to 23, 2025 on the Functional Fabric Fair in New York.
