A fire broke out on Wednesday evening (July 16) on the site of the Belgian electrical festival Tomorrowland. The main stage is affected, some of which is on fire three days before the planned start of the festival. This reports several media, including “Picture“.
According to the organizer, a large part of the elaborately designed main days burns. “The rescue workers are on site, our top priority is the security of everyone involved,” said festival spokeswoman Debby Wilmsen of the Dutch newspaper de Telegraaf.
The police cordoned off the surrounding area, drones should help to monitor the fire from the air. According to local authorities, there is no information about injuries.
Fire on Tomorrowland stage: residents should keep windows closed
Because of the strong smoke development, the authorities ask residents to keep doors and windows closed. The streets around the site in the city of Boom were kept free for emergency vehicles.
According to media reports, sparks of a fireworks test could have triggered the fire. Local residents reported several loud bangs.
Tomorrowland: Information about the festival
Tomorrowland 2025 is to take place on two weekends – from July 18 to 20 and from July 25th to 27th – in the Belgian city of Boom. Around 400,000 visitors from over 200 countries are expected. Appearance from hundreds of top international acts of the electronic music scene are planned on 16 stages-including Armin van Buuren, Charlotte de Witte, Eric Prydz, David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia, Amelie Lens and Solomun. The festival is considered one of the largest of its kind worldwide.
